What is Importer-Exporter Code (IEC)?
IEC is a 10 digit unique number with permanent validity across India allotted to Importers and Exporters.
It is applicable for all kinds of goods and services except Technology Services.
Important Conditions for IEC
IEC once obtained by the business is valid and applicable across Country as Centralised License. With Single IEC, Company can carry out their Import or Export transactions through any of the offices / branches across Country. You just need to quote IEC no. on all your invoices/consignment notes while doing a trade.
Unlike other business registrations, business registered as Importer/Exporter with IEC Code can simply import or export of goods. There is no need of any regulatory filings or payment of taxes prescribed under this code.
